Political Intercession

Updated: Jan 16, 2021

The Confusing World of Politics

Since the beginning, I never particularly liked politics, nor do I really understood it.

A lot of those political remarks made in social media were often incomprehensible at times and I don't know much about it.

God or Politics? Nay!

Many people believe that Christians should be involved in politics because we hold authority that is from God. Yet, there are also people who believe that Christians should not participate in politics because the church must be separated from the world.

But in times such as this - the political turmoil within Malaysia, the sudden resignation of our prime minister Tun Mahathir, the reinstatement of the prime minister, and the departure of our chief executive - we as Christians and intercessors are no longer able to turn a blind eye to this matter.

No matter what viewpoint, stand, or opinion you might have, I believe that there is one thing we, as Christians, must take: a responsibility to pray for our country. I have a responsibility to watch over my country in times of turmoil. I have a responsibility to stand in the gap, raise my hands, and cry aloud to the Lord.

The Power of Intercession

Then again, sometimes we can't help but think to ourselves: "I am just a normal citizen - a small person in a BIG country. Can my prayers really change a country? Do they even matter???" Brothers and sisters, let me encourage you. Written in the book of Ezekiel 22:30, God PROMISED that as long as we stand in the gap, our prayers will bring His will to FULFILLMENT.

"I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one." - Ezekiel 22:30, NIV

The passage states that God IS looking for someone! WHO?? That ONE person who could pray for the country! And that person is YOU. If we stand in the gap and pray for our country wholeheartedly, God will DEFINITELY bring revival and salvation because He A-L-O-N-E reigns in power FOREVERMORE.

Watch ye and Pray

We do not know what will happen in the coming election for Malaysia, but what we do know, is that two days before the election, we need to come together and pray.

Even right now as you are reading this, PRAY! Brothers and sisters, let us earnestly stop for one minute and pray for our beloved country, Malaysia. If there are brothers and sisters from other countries, I humbly entreat you to join us in prayer.

"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." - 1 Timothy 2:1-4, NIV

"May the love of God overflow in this land, His righteousness surround the government officials, and His love to fill our homes! AMEN!"
